Instruction Sheets

In the first years of the World Wide Web, folks who constructed Web pages handcoded them in html (hypertext markup language). Today it is possible to create quite sophisticated Web sites using Web site construction software. UAA students can buy this software at a discount at the University Bookstore.

Particularly recommended (they're two of the most widely used packages by professionals) are either Adobe GoLive (the current version is 5.0) or Macromedia Dreamweaver (version 4.0). Microsoft's software, FrontPage, works, too, but it is idiosyncratic, and professionals avoid it.

Even today it helps to know some html, and if you want to create Web pages -- and would like to do it without buying any software -- the following tip sheets provide all the information you need to build some pages. Note, Acrobat Reader is required to read the tip sheets. If it is not installed on your computer, you can download a free copy.
