The Swensens - Support Information

Missionary Aviation Repair Center (MARC) is a nondenominational "faith" mission. This means that all living expenses incurred by the staff are being covered solely by the generous support of individuals and churches being sent in their name. The mission has a group of its own supporters that help cover the mission's overhead. Other sources such as aircraft fuel sales, maintenance of customer's aircraft, and flight instruction also help cover the large costs associated in maintaining and operating the mission's aircraft. This includes things like the cost of administration, fuel, staff training, parts, etc. This allows 100% of the support designated for a staff member to go directly to their day-to-day living expenses, and other items that are normally provide by an employer such as medical and life insurance, and retirement savings. All support is sent directly to the mission, and a tax deductible receipt is returned to the sender. We receive a monthly check from the mission, which makes the standard deductions (federal, FICA, social security, etc.) from the gross total that comes in each month.

The mission has asked us to raise $3500 a month (of course this was before baby #3). An average of around 60% of this is currently coming in each month. It will be possible for us to actually move to Alaska, once we arrive at the 80% mark.
