- What kind of clothes should I bring?
- For maximun fun, bring warm clothes, wool hats, gloves, and good rain gear
as well as sunglasses and shorts. Dressing in layers is a good idea. Deck
shoes with non-marking soles are required. Rubber boots are recommended, we have
some spare ones to loan. Please bring soft packs or folding duffel bags for easy
storage on board. Don't forget the good rain gear!
-
- What do we mean by "good rain gear"?
- Our backyard, the Tongass National Forest is a temperate rain forest. In order to be
prepared for maximum fun up here you will need some waterproof outerwear, more than just a
poncho. A waterproof jacket with a hood or waterproof hat AND waterproof pants. We cannot
stress enough that rainpants are part of the equation to staying dry in a rainforest. You
probably wouldn't pack for a trip to Hawaii without taking a bathing suit. So please bring
proper raingear. We will supply boots. You can find an excellent and inexpensive selection
at www.campmor.com It does not have to be expensive
state-of-the art gortex. There are lots of good nylon coated products that will keep you
dry and not break your budget. Look for some with ventilation and you will be happier.
-
- What is the weather like?
- Like most places, it is impossible to predict our Alaskan weather. The best advise
we give is to "be prepared" for the elements, both sun and rain.
-
- What about meals and lodging?
- We will serve you delicious meals tailored to your needs, as one guest described meals
aboard Tuli: "It's a party for your mouth!"
- We furnish all bedding and linens for your cozy berth. Insomnia is rare onboard
Tuli. During your stay in Juneau, visit our local
accomodations page for some great places to stay in town.
