Cars have been banned along Tenakee Avenue, a 2- mile trail for the fuel and fire truck. There are 16 miles of footpaths meandering along the rugged shore. The mineral Hot Springs in the center of town is open to the public with posted hours for women and men. Walk through the old growth forest out to the Indian River, cross the suspension bridge and peek around the corner. You might see brown bears chasing salmon in the river! Pick some blueberries and we will put them in your pancakes!
Enjoy the different flavor of coastal Alaska. You will travel by a sea lion rookery and wave at sea otters as they swim by us at anchor. Watch for puffins on the cliffs. Sail by many humpback whales feeding in the pristine waters at Pt. Adolphus. Try our double inflatable kayak in the remote Inian Islands anchorage. You may paddle by a humpback whale or two! Have an easy walkabout on the boardwalk around the tiny, quaint fishing village of Elfin Cove on the outer coast. Gaze at the amazing Fairweather mountain range with glaciers and peaks over 15,000 feet. Feel swells from the Pacific Ocean! Stellar sea lions "hauled out" on rocky islets, humpback whales slapping their tails or "breaching", Dall porpoise playing at the bow of our boat, while eagles dive after salmon. Sail by brilliant blue icebergs. Take a picture for your Holiday card. Anchor in front of a glacier and go fishing for a halibut. Explore Pybus Bay, one of Admiralty Island’s most beautiful wilderness anchorages. Keep an eye on the beach; you are apt to see some brown bears chasing salmon in the river. While visiting the Keku Islands, we’ll take time to set the crab pot and have a beach fire and picnic. Kayak into a cave! A DAY ON THE INSIDE PASSAGE WITH WOMEN SAIL ALASKA Alaska’s famous Inside Passage is a beautiful wilderness where mountains meet the sea. We sail along secluded passageways with towering rainforests, traveling for approximately six hours a day. Our flexible schedule gives us plenty of time to watch wildlife, enjoy the scenery and sail as much as possible. Each afternoon or evening, there is time to go ashore to explore the beaches or paddle around in the anchorage. Try out our sturdy inflatable two-person kayak. With 16 to 18 hours of daylight in the summer, we can pack a lot into a day! Everyone is encouraged to participate at whatever level is comfortable for them.
