These are but a few of our favorite locations:
Barry Arm/ Harriman Glacier
Glaciers, glaciers and tidewater
glaciers. This area is home to Barry, Coxe and Cascade Galciers that
tower over 150 feet above the water's surface. Their regular calving
of house-sized ice produce thunderous sound and substantial waves.
Seals and otters lounge on the bergs, while a variety of birds soar
overhead.
Culross Passage
A 9 mile long protected waterway offering
serene paddling in calm waters. Black bears, eagles, otters and seals
are all close by.
Knight Island/ Knight Island Passage
Western hemlock and Sitka
spruce grow profusely along the protected western shores and islands.
This is the summer playground of Humpback and Orca whales. Newborn
otter pups riding atop their moms are numerous.
Blackstone Bay
At just 20 miles from Whittier, these tidewater
glaciers provide a glimpse of the remainder of the Sound.
