Our
lodge is located on Chandalar Lake, at the headwaters of the Chandalar River. This is one
of the largest lakes in Alaska's Brooks Range. Chandalar Lake is over five miles
long and one and one-half miles wide. In this last true wilderness you will
experience an angler's dream come true: ancient lakers, as long as your arm and up to 30
pounds! The iridescent hard-fighting grayling, and exotic landlocked char also pack
some serious weight. In the sloughs and along the shores of the many remote lakes
surrounding the lodge, you can find the ever-present northern pike, and of a size you only
imagined. Sheefish and occasional chum salmon are found in the lower parts of the
Chandalar river.
The eastern
Alaska Brooks Range boasts some of Alaska's wildest trout waters, many receiving little if
any fishing pressure. The potential for trophy size fish of high quality is tops. Late spring and fall are best for fly fishing and with a plethora
of foothill lakes, many untouched pike and grayling populations, you have all the makings
of an outstanding Alaska wilderness fishing adventure.
We can specifically
customize your fishing adventure to your interests. It will last a lifetime of
re-telling -- or until you come back and visit the part of you that you left north of
Alaska's arctic circle!
