Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Alaska, USA

Rafting Trips Summer 2008 (June & July)

Take your trip to Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge:

Polar Bear Viewing 2008 (Oct -Nov)

The Arctic National Wildllife Refuge was established in 1960 as a promise to the american people by the US Congress to "preserve wildlife, wilderness and recreational values" of this unique habitat. Click here for color photos.

The Refuge has been a homeland for thousands of years to the Inupiat Eskimos of the north coast and the Gwichin Athabascan Indians of interior Alaska. The people of Barter Island are 88% inupiat eskimo.

The Refuge is the most biologically diverse arctic habitat left on the planet - you can experience 45 species of land and marine mammals, 36 species of fish, and 180 species of birds from four continents. Click here for map of wildlife habitats.

In June and July, you can witness the migration of over 120,000 caribou into and out of the fertile coastal plain and tundra of the Arctic Refuge. This is one the largest migrations of land mammals on the planet, second only to the annual wildebeeste and zebra migration on the Serengeti Plain of Tanzania and Kenya in Africa. You will have a world class Alaskan wilderness adventure with great photographic opportunities!
