Juneau Boat Trip
To Tracy Arm

As we head down Tracy Arm we pass
parts of the glacier that has "calved"
off of the main glacier and is floating
in the arm. You can see seals napping
on the floating ice.

Now in the distance you can see the glacier
as it meets the water. This cloudy day is
perfect for showing off the deep blue
color of the ice.

There is another tour boat near the glacier.
This gives you an idea of the mammoth size
of this glacier. These boats are about 40 to
60 ft long and care must be exercised as we
get into the thicker ice near the face of the
glacier. Boats can get stuck in the ice.

Here we are nearing the face.

The seals are resting on the
ice as we near them. They
don't mind us at all.

The seals watch us to see what we are doing.
There were quite a few pups all over the ice
and the parents were just enjoying the warm
afternoon.

These huge chunks of ice are
awesomely beautiful!

As we head back towards Juneau, you can
see Bear Paw in the distance. Bear Paw
is in Canada so you can see what a clear
day it was in Juneau. Juneau is truly
a most beautiful place, when the sun
shines. It just doesn't shine enough.
