Winter/Summer 2000:
Ken has enjoyed being at OSK Heliport with a
(for the most part) 2 week on / 2 week off schedule. He did some relief
flying on fires this summer, but it was not a lot of time being gone -
for the first time in years. He has been kept busy lately flying on his
days off for Phillips Petroleum. We were able to get our deck project
finished
this summer. I will post more photos of our two year project, but it
has
been so worth it as this deck is huge and so pretty. Ken did such a
beautiful
job with the cedar railings and stairs. It is so lovely you just want
to
stand there and look at the gorgeous wood.
Summer 1999:
Ken received the news that he has been promoted
to an IFR Captain and Lead Pilot at the OSK Heliport in Kenai!!!! He
began
his new assignment on June 1, 1999 and will have (most of the time) a 2
week on / 2 week off schedule. He will be doing fire relief on his 2
weeks
off when needed, but that is always enjoyable for him. He can keep in
touch
with some of the great people he has met at BLM when on past fire
contracts.
Ken's job will be flying the personnel and freight to the offshore oil & gas platforms in the Cook Inlet. This was one of Ken's early assignments with Era and he is glad to be back close to home and to once again see the wonderful friends and neighbors of Kenai.
Winter 1999:
Ken was on a heliskiing contract in Valdez, Alaska for a second winter.
He flew an Astar, which is a single engine aircraft that carries 6
passengers.
His contract began on February 18, 1999 and went through May 15. The
guide
service he is flying for is H2O Guides and they have a web site:
http://www.h2oguides.com/
There are pictures of Ken, the Chugach mountains, snow boarder and
skiers.
He had a great time even though the weather was not very good and there
were extreme avalanche conditions at times. We highly recommend Dean
Cummings
and H2O Guides if you ever get to Valdez. They have skiing for all
levels
and experienced guides to assure your skiing is the best it can be, in
addition to it being as safe as possible.
.
Here is another side of Ken I'll bet none of you knew before.
