Qupqugiaq Inn

640 West 36th Avenue, Anchorage, Alaska  99503

(907) 562-5681

A great lodging choice while in Anchorage, Qupqugiaq Inn has 16 private rooms, with shared common areas, including a full kitchen available to guests. Housed in a unique, vibrant, popular community center, this is a great place to get oriented when coming to Alaska. Downstairs is a marvelous cafe, meeting place and school for adults, with activities taking place every evening which are open for free to all. Upstairs we are in the process of developing a new alternative Alaska resource and travel center, with hard-to-find information about travel and volunteer opportunities throughout the state.

We are in the process of completing new curved counters and walls in the common areas and hallways of the inn. The upstairs is beginning to resemble the cafe and school in its fine workmanship and innovative design. Work  should be completed within a month..

Rooms start at $27 per night for one person; $32 for two. Weekly rates are available starting at $140. Summer season prices are higher, but still far lower than nearly every other place in town--especially those which  are clean and  beautiful!

We want to try to bring something special, something more personal and human, to normal business life. We think that economic enterprises can actually help to deepen human relationships-- not just take advantage of human needs. Becoming economically viable is part of the challenge of creating a model for this kind of business.
