Adventures and Ocean Activities |
Homer and Kachemak Bay abound with opportunities for ocean sports and other outdoor activities. Individuals of all ages can enjoy many levels of adventure. You can spend a day across Kachemak Bay with a guide who will show you marine wildlife, birds, ancient human habitations and many other wonders of nature. Water taxis to points of interest and assorted activities are routine. Charters are available for fishing trips and wildlife viewing tours. Take a picnic lunch, your camera, binoculars and layered clothing to be prepared for any adventure. Glaciers, volcanoes and ever-changing shorelines await you. The Kenai Peninsula is known for its dynamic geology. The southeast shoreline of Kachemak Bay is aligned along the Border Ranges Fault, a major North American tectonic feature. Sedimentary, volcanic and intrusive rocks all crop out along the shoreline and provide excellent geologic exposures. |
