February 14th, 1999 A big thanks goes out to Vivi and Jon for hosting the last SWPC fly/drive in. It was wonderful to get to see their beautiful new home in the valley, Jon's very nice workshop filled with planes in some state of repair and just visit with all the wonderful people that showed up that day. The list included our host Vivi Nitteberg and Jon Svendsen, The Smoots, Burnie Schultz, Pat and Jim Cline all the way from Fairbanks, Jack Campbell, Jim Somerville, Jim McCarthy, Pete and Anne Brown (Who I believe are new members, welcome Pete and Anne), Eddie, Jackie, Linsey and Mckenzie Trimmer and Joe Wesolowski.
Saturday, October 3rd, 1998 The weather turned out great for the Fly-in to 8-Mile Airstrip hosted by Joe Wesolowski on Saturday, October 3rd. No ice, but temperatures too cold for swimming in the swimming hole. That was OK, the useful load lost by over eating was regained by a brisk hike down the airstrip and back (mile or better round trip). Some went even further. Wally and Sarah Parks along with Sarah's sister, Edith Loehr, checked on Sarah and Wally's cabin on 8-Mile Lake, better than a mile from the end of the airstrip. Russell Smoot and daughter Rachel "winterized" the canoe they keep at the lake. Those only hiking to the end of the strip and back included Jim Somerville, Jack Campbell, Chuck Moore, Warren Enyeart and Eddie and Jackie Trimmer and their daughters Linsey and Mckenzie. Stan Morris stayed back and supervised Joe Wesolowski's installation of fabric patches on the bottom of both wings on N4444A. 8-Mile Airstrip Bunch after the cooking and eating but before the hiking. Chuck Moore was the photographer
Saturday, September 19th, 1998 Todd and Barb Bureau hosted a mighty fine potluck BBQ at their complex along Bear Creek on Saturday evening. Unfortunately the weather was kind of snotty so the turnout was a little light. Those driving in were Joe Wesolowski and Warren Enyeart. Locals attending, in addition to Todd and Barb, were Diane Olthouse, Dru and Randy Sorenson and John Sorenson's cousin, Tom (John was on a job in Dillingham).

Saturday, August 15th, 1998 Eddie and Jackie Trimmer hosted one fine get-together at their hangar on Willow Airport, August 15th. Those people enjoying the food, hangar flying and learning something about some of Eddie's interesting mods to SWPs included the Wesolowskis, Chris and Natalie Gates, Rich Voegeli (from Kentucky), Jim McCarthy, and Jack Campbell. Also attending were Barry Stanley, Sherri Hummer, Billy Gould, Stan Morris, Wayne and Carol Vance, and Rod Jacobs. Not to be forgotten are Connie Cloud, Alan & Jennifer Bills, and Russell and Rachel Smoot with Rachel's friend, Casey Spyker.

Saturday, July 18th, 1998 The Fairbanks International Airport get-together Saturday, July 18th was a success. The weather was great, the bugs were napping and Jim and Pat Cline did an outstanding job hosting the event. No one flew in specifically that day to attend. However three who did attend flew several miles recently to be in Fairbanks. Chapter member John Wood flew PA16, N5716H, from Coon Rapids, MN. John was accompanied north by copilot/navigator, Ed Lee (came north with John in 1994 too) and John Gartland and Dave Johnson in their Ercoupes (Dave flew his ‘coupe to Barrow, Kotzebue, Nome and Siberia while here). John Wood's son, Jon (who now lives in FAI) participated along with his kids, McKenna and Steve, and friend Bonita McGee. Fairbanks area SWP members attending included the Clines, Craig and Susan Louden, Carol Scott, Syd Stealey, and Ernest Kingsbury. Local guests included Craig's brother Phil Louden, Howard and Jill Holman (Howard cooks a mean hamburger and hotdog), and Daniel, a young German trekker anxiously waiting for better weather at Anaktuvuk Pass. Burnie Schultz and the Enyearts camper-caravaned to Fairbanks to enjoy the activities and great hospitality.
