Alaska Yukon River Expeditions
"...we entered a kind of timelessness. Wednesday was the last day we called by name, and truly, we no longer needed time. We were lost from it, and lost in this way, I came alive. It was as if I'd slept for years, and was now awake. The others felt it too. Cell by cell, all of us were taken in by water and by land, swallowed a little at a time. ... We were only one of the many dreams of earth."
--Linda Hogan - Solar Storms
We welcome you to the expedition of your lifetime, found nowhere else in the world. Come join us, two Native Alaskans (Yupik Eskimo and Athabaskan Indian), who have grown up along the Yukon River. We can show you a land, a river, a country from our eyes and through our experiences that few others have had. Come travel for two weeks on the mighty Yukon. You can experience the mighty river, the secret sloughs, and the wilderness as few others have. You will be welcomed into Native villages and fish camps.
Come to Fairbanks Alaska from where we will transport you to a boat on the Yukon River 150 miles north of Fairbanks. From there we will take you by boat 1000 miles down the Yukon to the village of St. Marys. Group size will range from two to six guests.
We accept reservations from mid-May after the ice break-up until September when the river again freezes and enters its long winter. We recommend you bring rain gear, warm layered clothing, a warm sleeping bag. Surely, you will want to bring a camera and perhaps binoculars. We furnish all road and river transportation as well as meals and tents.
Please call, write, fax or e-mail us for further information.
