2002 Spring TRIP                                                        Summer Trip

2002 Arizona Spring Baseball Trip
Game 1
(6-3 loss vs. Goldwater, AZ)
Chad Sherwood pitched 5 strong innings (5K's, 1BB and 3 hits) as the Tbirds squandered an early lead to fall by a score of 6-3 in their first game of the spring trip.  Corey Madden, Grant Bledsoe and Jordan Farkas collected 2 hits apiece.  Madden also had 2 RBI's with a triple and a single.  The Tbirds out hit the 5A Arizona squad, 9 hits to 7 but unfortunately they stranded 7 runners.

Game 2
(7-2 loss vs. Overland, CO)
Antoine McLeod went 3 for 4, with a triple, to lead the Tbirds in their second game.  Corey Madden pitched the first 5 innings, striking out 5 while walking 2.  The Tbirds committed 3 errors in the first inning and again in the 6th inning as the Overland, Colorado, team scored 6 of their 7 runs.  Chad Sherwood also had 2 hits in the loss.

Game 3
(8-3 loss vs. Greenway, AZ)
The Post34 team faced an excellent Arizona squad in their third game.  Greenway scored 3 runs on 3 hits in the bottom of the 3rd and then held off a late rally by the upset-minded Tbirds.  Anton Maxwell struck out 7 in 3 innings of work on the mound and Jordan Farkas pitched 3 strong innings in relief.  Chad Sherwood collected 2 hits, including a 3-run homerun in the 5th inning. Jimmy Obermeyer, Riley Smith, Corey Madden and Antoine Mcleod also had hits for the Tbirds.

Game 4
(12-7 loss vs. West Albany, OR)
The Tbirds jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, only to see it evaporate following 6 consecutive walks in the second inning.  The Post34 team actually collected more hits than the Oregon squad (10 hits to 9), but failed to put together any big innings.  The game had plenty of early excitement with the Oregon manager and one of his assistants given an opportunity for an early shower by the home plate umpire.  The downfall in this game for the Tbirds was definitely free passes as the Tbird pitchers issued 12 walks over the 6 frames of work  Riley Smith was the lone bright spot on the mound, working 3 1/3 innings without allowing any earned runs.  Jordan Farkas and Chris Tuck each collected 2 hits in the loss.
