Half day trips will originate and end at Auke Bay, about five miles from the Juneau airport, and ten miles from downtown Juneau. Other charters call four hours a half day. The Top Dog wil be out for six hours if you have the time. Humpback whales are common within an hour of Juneau as they collect predictably where feed consistently appears. Orca or killer whales move in groups that travel large distances each day, making daily sightings on short trips a hit or miss affair. Seals, sea lions, eagles and sea birds are always around and provide excellent photo opportunities. Waters near Juneau are almost never rough during the summer, and there is an excellent prospect for great water and photo opportunities.
One meal, snacks, soft drinks, coffee and tea are provided. Alcohol is not provided, although there is a liquor store at the harbor. Smoking is not permitted inside the boat, and nonmarking soles on your shoes is appreciated. The Top Dog has a comfortable flying bridge and a back deck for smoking and sightseeing.
