1st Time Racing?

HOW DO WE GET THERE?  Racers typically ride the bus to and from the race.   The bus usually leaves between 8 and 9 depending on when the race starts.  Exact times will be posted before each race.

WHEN DO I RACE?  Your start time will depend on gender and what Team you are on.  Start times posted before each race.  You should know what Team you are on.  The teams are: varsity or A team,  junior varsity or B team, C, D, Open etc.  XC Skiing is great because there is a team for everyone and everyone gets to race.

WHAT TO WEAR? You will race in your racing suit. You can wear polypro under your top and bottom if it is too cold out. Men, you will want to wear wind briefs. Wear your hat, ear muffs, and gloves. Race officials may not let you out of the gate without these on. If it is chilly out, a light weight neck gator is essential. You will warm up in the ski start area with your racing suit and warm up pants (zipper up sides) and team jacket or similar. You will take these off at the starting line. WATCH YOUR STARTING TIME. Make sure you are out in the stadium warming up before your race start time. Watch and see how others are doing it.

WHAT TO EAT? Oatmeal is a good start for race day. dried fruit, bagel, etc. DO NOT skip breakfast on race day...you will bonk. Drink fluids, bring healthy snacks to munch on - don't forget your Secret Buddy Stuff!
