Initial Wideband Results:Ontario Hydro Research Data
Under NSF funding, SFS processed echo data from a comparatively narrow band system in operating in fresh water and achieved the following performance. Echo detection selected fish echoes from among background noise and echoes from debris. Species classification differentiated between two species of similar size: walleye and sturgeon. Information used for the classification included the shape of the echo time series and the estimated power spectrum of the echo. Where echoes were averaged, the average was of ten consecutive echoes.
