My name is Chris Brooks.
I have been in Alaska for 43 years and have worked for the Alaska Railroad for 35 years and am currently a machinist in the Wheel Shop. I live 18 miles northeast of Anchorage in the sub word that means "place of many places". Aptly named I think because it includes the communities of Eklunta (an Indian village) Peters Creek, Birchwood, 'Old Chugiak' and Eagle River. We live on a hillside at the foot of the Chugach (settlers corruption of the word Chugiak) Mountains. Our house faces north toward Mount McKinley and overlooks Knik (pronounced nick, most people mispronounce it as Ka-nick)arm of Cook inlet. From our home we can look upon three mountain ranges, The Chugach, The Talkeetna and The Alaska Ranges. My interests include woodworking and Santa Claus. Oh! and warm weather.
