This is a great web page!   I finally found a way to visit Girdwood again! The only problem is, I can't ski over the net. Thanks for putting this out. I will show my parents and I'm sure they will love it.

Hi,   My name is Bill Girdwood and I live in Sydney, Australia.
I am fascinated that there is a town in Alaska named after one of my ancestors ...
I have made up my mind that on my next trip to the US that my family
and I will definely pay you a visit.
Here is a little background about my family line. The family can be traced to a town in Scotland called
Carnwarth in the county of Lannark. Later records show a movement of Girdwoods to Ayrshire.
My father emigrated from Newcastle-on-Tyne, England
I have moved to the other side of the country (The east - Pacific side)
where I have raised my family. I would really appreciate any information
you could send regardng the history of your town
concerning our Australian way of life...
Very kind regards, Bill Girdwood <girdwood@one.net.au.au>

Hi!

My name is Mike Dowd mailto:tdowd@businessweek.com . I am a Boy scout in Troop 78 in Loudonville NY. I am working on Collections Merit Badge. My collection is business cards. I am starting a subset of people named Dowd so I did a search on Webcrawler. My search led me to Girdwood--I couldn't figure out why until I got all the way down to the bottom!
Thanks, Cousin!
