Kennicott is located in a remote setting next to glacial fields and Mount Blackburn (16,390 ft/ 4996 m). Kennicott was a thriving mining town from 1908 to 1938, when falling copper prices caused the mine’s closure. From 1938 until the 1970s Kennicott was a ghost town. Now visiting Kennicott is memorable adventure.
The Kennicott Cottage was built in 1917...
...and renovated in 1997.
Rent the whole cottage or rooms to accommodate groups of up to eight people. Rental includes kitchen and shower privileges. The kitchen has a propane stove and oven. The shower house and outhouse are detached. Discounts are available for a stay of three or more nights.

"Hello, we would like to welcome you to Kennicott. A place rich in history, and fun to explore! Activities in the area include visiting the local museum, hiking and walking tours, flightseeing, guided glacier tours, mountain biking, rafting, and backcountry excursions.
To access you may drive or fly to McCarthy.
From the parking lot, ride a tram over the river and catch a shuttle on the other side of the island footbridge. Shuttles are also available from the airport. From Kennicott, locate the middle cottage in the group of three on Silk Stocking Row. Coordinate luggage pickup in advance or call locally.
