(DON'T DO THIS! unless you have a lurch) |
||
This one is here for historical interest only. In the 1800s and before people skiied with only one pole called a lurch. It was about the same height as the skiier, had a strap on one end and a metal tip on the other. The skis had no side cut, were over 230cm long, and only a single strap for a binding. The skiier would drag the lurch to turn. To stop they would sit on the lurch like a broomstick. If you were going to try it with your poles you would put your poles between your legs and lever them against the inside of one thigh. but you won't try it because your poles aren't strong enough. You would bend them, brake them, or knock the baskets off. You would also tear up the ski trails and make enemies of the people skiing behind you.
