Double pole works best with skate skis. It is impossible on snowboards and snowblades since they are used without poles. |
Here is how to double-pole.
- Plant your poles next to your feet. Your arms should be slightly bent.
- lean forward onto your poles using your weight to propel yourself forward.
- As your hands pass your thighs let go of your poles and straighten your torso.
- Continue to push with your arms against your pole straps.
- Double poling technique has changes some in the past few years. skiiers used to bend from the waist using the weight of their torso to push. Now they are skiing with their hips farther forward and bending more from the ankle. Notice when you lean farther forward your elbows bend more .
