Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic (RFB&D) is now celebrating its 50th anniversary as the nationŐs only educational library for people with print disabilities and provides taped and computerized textbooks in every subject area and grade level. We are a nonprofit organization that serves 78,000 people with print disabilities. These disabilities range from dyslexia to blindness and other physical disabilities that preclude the effective use of standard textbooks. Last year RFB&D circulated a quarter of a million textbooks to its members nationwide.
Almost 70 percent of RFB&DŐs members are identified as having dyslexia and this member population is growing rapidly as learning disabilities are better diagnosed. Studies indicate that students with dyslexia benefit immensely from listening to books as they follow along and read the text.
We offer individual memberships to students and institutional memberships to schools and school districts across the country. RFB&D, headquartered in Princeton, NJ currently operates 33 recording studios in 30 cities across the country. Richard O. Scribner is the current president and CEO.
