Flying in to McNiel River State Game Sanctuary in June 1999 for a 4-day bear viewing trip.  We flew from the seaside town of Homer west across Cook Inlet to the campsite near Mikfik Creek.  Along the way the pilot of our chartered DeHavilland Beaver floatplane passed cloud-shrouded Mt. Augustine.  This volcano rises directly out of the water to about 4,000 feet.
