ALASKA! The very word stirs the imagination and brings forth vivid images of massive, sky-reaching mountains cloaked in an ageless mantle of ice and snow. Home to mighty bear, moose, sheep and caribou. Salmon leaping white-water rapids in wild, untamed rivers. Eagles riding on currents of air high above the great valleys. It is a grand vision!
Many gifted artist have captured their impressions of Alaska on canvas and film.
My personal vision and work is a little off the beaten path, as much of my life has been. I grew up on a homestead in the Matanuska Valley. Homesteaded myself on the Tokositna River at the base of Mt. McKinley and the Ruth Glacier. My family, floatplanes, riverboats, photography and the wilds of Alaska are my lifelong passions.
I equate the wild untamed beauty of Alaska with the beauty and spirit of it's women. I attempt to capture that sameness with my photography. Not so much a photograph of a woman. More a photograph with a woman in it, a part of it. A woman often nude, as the Creator made her. A jewel in a wilderness setting.
