A great site on the State’s Fish & Game’s commercial fishing site that has in season summaries for a various rivers in South Central Alaska. A useful index found here is the test fishing index conducted in saltwater that gives a good indication of the numbers of fish heading toward the rivers in southcentral Alaska.

A historic record of the Kenai River sockeye escapement.Since history tends to repeat itself, this is a great source of info to figure out when to go hammer the reds or to go dipnetting for them.

Alaska River Forecasting Center

This is a great site with flow data from many rivers across Alaska.Check here to see if the Anchor River, Montana Creek, The Su and many other rivers are too high to fish or not…before you leave home.

National Weather Service forecast

http://pafc.arh.noaa.gov/

Weather plays a big part in fishing. If not the catching it definitely affects the “fun” part of fishing!  The National Weather Service site is the ONLY site you need to find out information about the weather in Alaska. More weather info than you know what to do with!

Daily Tide Tables

http://www.duckcentral.com/daily_tideA.htm

A great site to give you visual graphs on how the tides run in many Alaska waters. The only drawback is you can only get the tides for today and tomorrow.  Still its worth checking out.

Salmon Herder Charters

Dan France, born and raised in Soldotna, a top notch guide for the Kenai and Kasilof Rivers...I highly recommend him. Would you rather fish with a lifelong resident of Soldotna or a part timer that comes to Alaska only during the summer months to make a quick buck or two?

Applehaus B&B: Naknek, Alaska

A Bed & Breakfast in Naknek, Alaska. Naknek is home to one of the world's largest runs of red (sockeye) salmon in the world! Combine that with the other 4 species of salmon and some awesome rainbow fishing and it's a place I just gotta go see. I haven't been to the B&B yet but I know the owner! The owner, Dorothy Besch was my 6th grade teacher and though she still has the good ol' Texan spirit & hospitality, thirty years of living in Alaska makes her a living Encyclopedia of Alaska and how to have fun. I am DEFINITELY going to get out there someday. I rarely endorse a place I have never been to but Dorothy was (and still is!) one of my MOST favorite teachers and I can credit a lot of my success to the work ethics I learned from her while still in the 6th grade. I can personally guarantee that she will treat you right and make every effort possible to show you a great time. Don't believe me? Check out the web page and talk to her yourself. I'm convinced you'll agree... even after the first few minutes!!!!!
