A Pirogue Page
This page is a collection of pirogue references. I've heard this word pronounced variously,
"pie-roag" or "peer-row", but Louisianans tell me its properly "pie-rog" (rhymes with hog).
None of these designs quite match the upper
Mississippi River Duck Hunting Skiff design (above)
that I am searching for,
but they are all very interesting nonetheless.
Pirogues started with dugout cypress logs...
Now evolved into "plank pirogues"....
