Seasonal Adventures


April-May
King Salmon fishing, whale watching and bear viewing highlight the spring months.

June-July
Fish for King salmon and halibut. Watch newly returning sea birds in their rookeries.

August-October
Sitka Blacktail deer, puddle ducks and sea ducks are prime for hunting. While you're at it, fish for halibut, Kings and silvers.

November-January
Sitka Blacktail deer, duck hunting and ocean fishing continue.


Duck Species

Sea Ducks: King Eiders, Harliquins, Old Squaw, White Wing Scoter, Surt Scoter, Black Scoter.(Stellers, Eiders are closed to hunting but make good photo opportunities)

Puddle Ducks: Northern Pintail, Mallard, Green Wing Teal, Wigdeon, Gadwall.

Divers: Common and Red Breasted Merganzers, Bufflehead, Greater Scaup, Common and Barrow's Golden Eye.

Duck hunting consists of shooting over decoys and using traditional hunting spots which provide excellent cover.

Island Air now has three scheduled flights a day into Old Harbor - even during the winter months when day light hours are limited. For reservations call 907-486-6196. Cost is $61 per person.
