The halibut fishing out of Homer, Alaska is the best in the world. There are several areas to choose from: Kachemak Bay, Cook Inlet and the Gulf of Alaska. We have the second largest tides in the world and they do play an important part in fishing. You must know where and when to be on the tide in order to be successful. The halibut catch limit is 2 fish per day/per fishermen and the limit is almost always caught. Smaller fish can be released so most times its a matter of a fisherman being pleased with the size of the fish. (Don't throw back too many). Salmon fishing is also available on the F/V Reflection - when it fits in with the busy Halibut schedule. King Salmon (or Chinook) arrive in May and early June. Silver Salmon (or Coho) runs are in mid-August. |
