FYI
Parental Support
We cordially invite you to be actively involved with school support activities such as driving for field trips, teaching intensives, providing transportation for Experiential Education Expeditions, volunteering in the classroom, serving as a guest speaker, sharing vocational or avocational expertise, stuffing envelopes, etc.
While the Academy enthusiastically supports the highly cherished Alaskan tradition that students have the "right" to dress as they choose, we require that they accept EagleCrest's dress standard while they are at school, on school sponsored field trips, or serving as interns. The EagleCrest dress standard can be described as conservative business casual: Students may wear clean hemmed jeans, or Docker style slacks, T-shirts, collared polo shirts, hip length or tucked-in shirts with sleeves, sweaters, or "dressy" sweatshirts. Students are expected to be especially conscientious about observing the workplace dress standard where they serve as interns. Part of being taken seriously and making a good impression has to do with appearance. Consequently, sagging or other "gang" appurtenances; T-shirts that have logos which are crude, rude, or crass, promote the consumption of alcohol, display slogans with racial or gender slurs, or advocate violence or drug use; short skirts; tank tops; muscle shirts and "see-through" tops are not considered 'conservative business casual' by EagleCrest Academy, and may not be worn to school.
We expect that EagleCrest students value themselves enough not to consume alcohol or use other drugs, or participate in criminal activities. Involvement in any of these activities is grounds for immediate dismissal.
EagleCrest Academy is located at the corner of Lake Otis and Tudor in the lower level of St. Mary's Episcopal Church.
Accreditation
As soon as the school is eligible to do so, EagleCrest Academy will seek accreditation from the Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools and the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges.
All EagleCrest teachers are members of the International Dyslexia Society.
