At my first bead society meeting as a member, Robin Atkins was there with her slide show and a display of her bead embroidery work. What an incredible inspiration! As a result of the evening, Lamby came into vision and then existence.
Lamby is a 15" linen body stuffed lamb for crafting, but I envisioned it all decked out in beads. Every kind of imaginable stitch and every kind of imaginable bead I could put on that little body was put on. After 16 months of working bits and pieces and finding just the right beads, Lamby finally came together into a masterpiece of beadwork that is truly my pride and joy.
Many of my friends and family are represented on Lamby as small sections of beadwork. You will find glass lampworked beads by Michelle Waldron, Teri Atwell, Sandy Lane, Carolyn Driver, and Linda Myers. Also are works by Rebecca Starry, Ruby Brooke, Denise Linz and Lesle Chanar. The angel on Lamby's leg is a pattern of Teri Packel's and the Jas's Bracelet wrapped around Lamby's arm is the result of a class taken at Alaska Bead Company. Many, many factors influenced the production of Lamby, all very personal and special to me.
In the near future, I'm planning to do a whole gambit of stuffed animals. Time is the problem. There is darn little of it! I will keep you posted on any further animals added to the barnyard.
I hope you enjoy Lamby as much as I do..... :)
