The Scenery

Southwest Alaska has some of the most remote areas in the State.   The entire region is accessible only by Aircraft.

Lake Clark Pass is the gateway to the Southwest Region from Anchorage.   Where this large Glacier terminates marks the divide between Cook Inlet and Bristol Bay.

Lake Iliamna Lake Iliamna is the largest Lake in Alaska.   It is home to the largest Sockeye Salmon Run in the World.

The far Eastern end of Lake Iliamna is a maze of Islands and Inlets.

Mount Iliamna is one of several active Volcanos on the Alaska Peninsula.   This large Volcano is visible from Anchorage all the way to Bristol Bay.

Close examination of Mount Iliamna reveals the steam which periodically eminates from the fissures in this Mountain.

Mount Iliamna Like Mount McKinley to the North, Mount Iliamna is generally cloud-covered.   On a rare day such as this one, it is a beautiful Mountain to see.
