Wildlife of The Kenai Peninsula

Neva captured these photos of a pair of Whistling (Tundra) Swans mixing it up with a few small ducks on this lake at the junction of the Seward highway.

The Whistling Swan is a close cousin of the larger Trumpeter Swan.   Whistling Swans, often called Tundra Swans can be found by the thousands in Northern and Western Alaska during the spring.

A close-up of the Whistling Swan reveals a beautiful, graceful bird that is significantly larger than the neighboring ducks.

My Father and I found this Beautiful Bull Caribou grazing along the highway just beyond the Kenai River Bridge near the town of Soldotna. There are not many Caribou found on the Kenai Peninsula, but a few show up now and again.
