Snickerdoodles

Ingredients
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Combine 1 tablespoon sugar and cinnamon in small bowl. Cream shortening; gradually all 1 1/2 cups sugar, beating well. Add eggs; beat well. Stir in vanilla.

Sift together flour, soda, salt, and cream of tartar. in a meduim mixing bowl. Add to creamed mixture; mix well. Shape dough into 1-inch balls, then roll in the reserved cinnamon mixture. Place 2 inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake at 400 degrees for 6 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on a wire rack. Makes 4 doz.
