Galena Bay Day Trip
Meet at the office of Anadyr Adventures for a pre-trip safety briefing, kayaking lesson and equipment fitting. After loading kayaks relax and enjoy the transport ride to Galena Bay. After a drop-off at the mouth of the bay, revel in the gorgeous view from this vantage point.

As we begin our journey, our knowledgeable guides will begin by telling you a little of the natural history, geography and past human endeavor which makes Prince William Sound one of the foremost paddling destinations in the world.

In the shadow of Mt. Ellamar, a perpetually snow-capped peak, paddle by the old growth rain forest along the shores of the bay. Watching for eagles and other wildlife we slowly make our way toward the Galena Bay Narrows and the Lagoon.

Visit Indian Creek and have a chance at seeing black bears fishing for salmon. The area is one of the best for viewing salmon leaping at their chance to return to their birthing grounds.

Once in the back of Galena Bay relax and eat lunch in a meadow lush with wildflowers. The view is splendid with nothing but primeval forest, mountains and clear ocean water!

After a small hike to really absorb the scenery, enter into the "Lagoon." This little lake-like lagoon is one of the prettiest of its kind. A great place to see birds and other wildlife, take your time and explore this beautiful place. At the very back, you will be rewarded with a wonderful little waterfall surrounded by game trails so keep your eyes open. This is also a popular congregating spot for the elusive Hooded Mergansers.

After healthy day of paddling and viewing in the sanctity of Galena Bay, prepare to return to the water taxi and the ride back to Valdez.
