This tour is for those who want to distance themselves from civilization,
and challenge themselves on the long dirt highways of Interior Alaska.
We will be riding past Mt. McKinley, passing through the Alaska Range
twice, visit two natural hot springs, the Yukon River …..you will
see more of Alaska than most Alaskan! We have designed this tour to have
three rest days along the route, for those who would like time to relax,
explore around on a dual- purpose motorcycle, or do another activity you
always wanted to experience in Alaska. This will be a great tour for those
who like to go to the edge!
Itinerary
Day 1: Saturday June 14th:
Arrival of guests, Get everybody settled into comfortable B&B in Anchorage,
Alaska. Welcome dinner.
Day 2: Sunday, June 15th:
Ride from Anchorage to Cantwell, Alaska. 210 miles, paved highway. Highlights
include, views of Mt. McKinley, North America's Tallest Peak (20,230ft)
if weather permits. Stay in Cantwell.
Day 3: Monday, June 16th:
Free day to explore around Cantwell. There are opportunities for riders
to: Ride 37 miles north to Denali National Park, and take a bus into the
park for the day, ride on the Denali Highway, a high alpine dirt highway
with spectacular views of the Alaska Range, fish for grayling, flight
see around Denali National Park, etc. Stay in Cantwell.
Day 4: Tuesday, June 17th:
Ride from Cantwell to Chena Hot Springs. 186 miles paved. Highlights include,
passing through the Alaska Range, with great mountain views, stopping
in Fairbanks, rich with gold rush history, and soaking in the natural
hot spings at Chena. Stay in Chena Hotsprings Resort
Day 5: Wednesday, June 18th:
Ride from Chena Hotsprings to Circle Hotsprings. 201 miles, 97 miles paved,
104 miles dirt. Highlights include beautiful interior scenery from the
Steese Highway, especially form Eagle and Twelvemile Summits. Soak in
the the natural hot springs at Circle Hotsprings Resort. These hot springs
were used as a gathering place by area Athabascans before the gold rush.
Then it was homesteaded in 1905. No doubt, these hot springs soothed many
a weary goldminer! Stay in Circle Hot Springs resort.
Day 6: Thursday, June 19th:
Free day. Activities include: exploring the various gold mining roads
in the area on your dual-purpose motorcycle, riding to the town of Circle
(35 miles) on the banks of the Yukon River, relaxing and soaking in the
hot springs…. Stay in Circle Hot Springs resort.
Day 7: Friday, June 20th:
Ride from Circle Hot Springs to Delta Junction. 232 miles, 128 paved,
104 dirt. Highlights include vistas form Eagle and Twelvemile Summits,
lunch in Fairbanks, and broad views of the Alaska Range from the Richardson
Highway north of Delta Junction. Stay in Delta Junction.
Day 8: Saturday, June 21st:
Ride from Delta Junction to Copper Center. 158 miles paved. Highlights
include crossing the Alaska Range through beautiful Isabel Pass. Sweeping
views of mountains, glaciers and wild rivers on all sides. Stay in Copper
Center.
Day 9: Sunday, June 22nd:
Free day. Activities include riding the Edgerton Highway into Wrangell-St.
Elias National Park, enjoying the vistas of the large volcanoes of the
park, exploring the Copper River area near Chitina with your dual-purpose
motorcycle, riding to Thompson pass, 75 miles away, with mountains and
glaciers all around…or trying a little King Salmon fishing in the
area. Stay in Copper Center.
Day 10: Monday, June 23rd:
Ride from Copper Center to Anchorage, Alaska. 189 miles. Highlights include
the mountainous scenery from this National Scenic Byway including close-up
views of glaciers and possible wildlife. Stay in Anchorage. Farewell dinner
out on the town.
Day 11: Tuesday, June 24th:
Transfer to Airport, many good memories!!
Tour price will include:
B&B and Hotel accommodation, Airport pick-up/drop-off, motorcycle
rental for Kawasaki KLR 650 and Suzuki DR 650(BMW F650GS rental upgrade
available), two dinners, trip garment and up to 5 lunches.
