Pictured (l to r) are Norman Thagard with his wife and Kenai River guide Loren Flagg with Charles "Pete" Conrad, Jr.
Pete Conrad Jr. was the commander of the Apollo 12 mission to the moon; America's second manned lunar landing. He was also the third person to ever set foot on the surface of the moon. Norman Thagard has his own distinction as a veteran of five space shuttle missions and was the first American to be assigned to the Mir Space Station. Until recently he held the American record for longest time in space, 3360 hours. | |
