Janet Stotts,  Choir Director 

        Janet Stotts earned her Bachelor of Arts cum laude in Vocal Music Education at St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota. She has done post-graduate work in Early Childhood Music and Choral Music at Brigham Young University, Dominican College, and with the Robert Shaw Workshop at Carnegie Hall, New York.

        Janet has served as clinician and guest conductor for local and regional vocal and choral events. In addition to her duties with the Alaska Children’s Choir, Janet teaches private voice and piano lessons as well as Exploring Music classes for preschool children. She has served as Music Director for several Valley Performing Arts productions and serves as Music Director for Trinity Lutheran Church in Palmer.

        In December 1996, Janet received a Woman of Achievement Award presented by BP Exploration and YWCA. In May 1997, Janet was the recipient of the Distinguished Alumna Award from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.

Janet is an active member of several professional music organizations:

  • Music Educators National Conference
  • Music Teachers National Association
  • National Association of Teachers of Singing
        Janet plays flute, piano, and enjoys hiking, cross-country skiing, reading, and sewing. She resides in Wasilla, Alaska, with her husband Gene.
