The cost of each biography is different, based on the number of hours it takes to complete, the number of photographs used, and the number of manuscripts you desire. Some people tell their stories in a fairly brief and concise fashion; others require more taping and editing. Some stories are as short as 40 pages in length; others are 100 plus pages. Some people want to use lots of photographs, and others not so many. Some people want only six or seven copies of the manuscript, while others have dozens of relatives they want to share them with. The cost of the project usually ranges anywhere from $3000 to $5000, which includes my fee of $30 per hour, travel, lodging and per diem, plus printing, layout, design and copies. One option for the adventurous-type person is to combine business and pleasure and visit me in my home town of Homer, Alaska (halibut capitol of the world). I would be happy to help you with any and all arrangements for this. Another option is for the subject's children to pool their finances and offer this as a gift to their parent. |
