Some information gleaned from:

The book Cobb County: The First Hundred Years
Summary of the data: Ephraim Knight came to Cobb County from Morgan County. The Knight name appears on several land lottery lists. Some names mentioned in the history include Elisha and Matthew Knight from Jasper Co., Enoch Knight's orphans from Richmond Co., Johnathon Sr. of Lowndes Co., but it is not known their relationship to Ephraim.
Ephraim Knight married Nancy Rutledge (see trivia secion below this history section). Ephrain was a merchant and a builder in Marietta, and they became substantial citizens. Their children were Andrew, whose daughter Julia married first husband, Mr. Medlock, and second Mr. Holley. Other children of Ephraim/Nancy were George, Elisha (married Susannah Neal), Ephraim (never married), David, Martha, Narcissa (married Wm. Neal), Permelia (married Moore), Mary (married Weaver), Sallie (married Owen). Ephraim Knight is said to have built one of the first frame houses in the town of Marietta. He served 3 terms as tax collector, beginning 1848. Ephraim Knight's daugher, Martha, married Josiah Massey, one of the pioneer settlers. Mr. Massey enlisted in the Confederate Army and served for 4 years, being a member of the famous Phillips's Legion. Knights and Neals married brothers and sisters, and William Davenport Neal who married Narcisse Knight, joined the Cobb County group that formed to fight in the Mexican War.

Ephraim Knight May 25, 1789. Several slaves to be emancipated; all real and personal estate to be equally divided between my children after just debts are paid and sufficient maintenance is left for my wife.
From Halifax, North Carolina Deeds 1758-1771 and 1796-1802
Meredith Knight deeded to Abner Knight Jan. 19, 1802, for 328 spanish milled dollars, 60 acres on east side of Long Branch, joining Marsh Swamp.
Andrew Knight to Lovatt Burges Jan 28, 1802, 457 acres which had belonged to Ephraim Knight, Sr., part of the partition joining Elk Marsh Swamp, Little Swamp.
Jos.Jno. Alsoton to Eprhaim Knight Aug. 13, 1769, 500 pounds joining Little Swamp.
and amongst other transactions there was also listed a Petition of Meredith Knight, Ephraim Knight, Andrew Knight, Abner Knight, Stephen Knight, Jospeh Knight, and Benjamin Harris and his wife Charoltte who petition to divide lands they hold in common west side of Marsh Swamp, joining William Williams, William Gilmore and others.

Knight Family Trivia:

Meredith Knight's daughter Sarah married Hezekiah Rutledge.  They moved to Morgan County, Georgia.  
The town soon became known as Rutledge.  
 
Here is what Georgia.gov says about it:
The railroad helped give birth to Rutledge in 1845 when it pushed through the community from 
Augusta to Marthasville (now Atlanta). The rails being laid ran directly through the land
 of Hezekiah Rutledge. The trainmen began calling the area "Rutledge's Place", later just Rutledge.
