To Participants of the NAFWS Alaska Regional Meeting:
I would like to invite you to attend our annual Alaska Regional Native American Fish & Wildlife Society conference to be held in Anchorage on April 7th through 9th at the Anchorage Hilton. The theme this year is: Tribal Stewardship: Our Connection to Mother Earth.
Each year more people come to our conference. At the conference many issues are discussed that are relevant to tribes and communities in rural Alaska. Our issues facing rural Alaska are all the same and we can each choose to address them in different ways. At the Native American Fish & Wildlife Society we choose to build our human resources through technology, training and information. This builds our human knowledge base to help us protect our natural resources.
The Alaska Regional office works throughout the year working with tribes providing technical assistance, sending out the newsletter and providing a conference for the exchange and sharing of ideas. The Alaska Region has goals to continue the work of the society in Alaska. Two ideas we are working on are an Alaska Native Training Institute and Subsistence foods testing. At the conference we will be working on a strategic planning process to carry us into the future. We want to know some of your goals or ideas you may have for the society. We will also be having our Almost World Famous, Traditional Feast on the first day of the conference. Come to our conference, participate and enjoy yourself.
See you there,
